With so much prep spent on these scary styles, including heat styling, temporary hair coloring, and heavy teasing, it’s easy for someone to take a hairstyle from “blah” but then turn into “AH!” To achieve the optimal results for the desired Halloween look, an absolute must is to use proper hair products when creating the hair design. By doing so, you’re practically guaranteeing that all of the hard work that you put into your spooky style lasts longer than just saying trick or treat.

Strong Hold
When it comes to strong hold hair products, you have a couple of options to choose from depending on your desired hairstyle outcome. If you’re looking to place objects in the hair, like the giant spider used to create the hairstyle shown below by stylists from AW Salon in North Canton, Ohio, then a strong hold hairspray might be the best option for you. One of our favorites is Milbon’s Extra Strong Hold Hairspray. It instantly locks in the desired style after the first spray, creating a long-lasting, powerful hold.
If you’re looking for a sleeker look with extra hold, we recommend using some sort of strong hold styling product to ensure the hair stays in place with no movement whatsoever. One of our favorites to reach for is ELEVEN Australia’s Strong Hold Styling Paste because while it has a firm hold, it also has a lightweight feel, so styles last longer than ever without the feeling of heaviness.
Volume
When it comes to creative styling, volume is an absolute MUST! While so many different kinds of products and ways of styling can give volume, it’s convenient to find some go-to products for volume. One of our favorite ways to achieve volume is by using a powder. UNITE’s EXPANDA Dust is excellent for a more gritty, voluminous look and gives stylists more control over where they place volume in the hair.

Hair Primer and Heat Protectant
When getting ready for the spooky season, make sure to protect your hair. No matter how crazy the style is, hair health is the No. 1 priority. No one wants to look like a nightmare after Halloween night.
The best way to do this is prep hair with some sort of primer or heat protectant so that it will be safe for styling with or without heat tools. When it comes to sparkles and shine, they practically go hand-in-hand when it comes to Halloween hairstyles. The bolder, the better in this case and there are so many products that achieve the ultimate amount of effervescence throughout the hair.
If you’re looking for a product to set the hair when wet, while giving it an extra twinkle of shine, Keune Haircosmetics’ So Pure Defrizz Shine Serum will be the perfect product for you. Polishing off the hair before a blow-dry, this serum not only gives the hair an added sheen, but it also detangles and defrizzes hair.
