WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME AN EDUCATOR?
I have been a teacher in the beauty industry since 2003. I am a licensed IL cosmetology teacher and was in beauty schools for many years. After leaving the schools, I opened my own education company and offer CE classes. I love teaching licensed professionals, so it was a natural path to teach extensions for Premier. It is exciting to see stylists get excited when they can offer their clients a new, different, and sometimes, life changing, service.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR SALON!
I work for myself and have a small clientele. I work 2 days a week, which allows me to be available for teaching education and my family. I love that my clients get to have an intimate service appointment with just me. They can dress how they want (pj's allowed), be casual in their conversation, and sit back enjoying being pampered. I do mostly haircuts and highlights.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR BEST PRACTICES FOR RETAILING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS?
My clients know that if I am suggesting something, they should get it. They trust me with their hair. I also am a firm believer in recommending what they need, not what you want to sell. Using the products on the clients and explaining why I'm using it always helps too.
ANY HOBBIES? OR ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE OF DOING HAIR?
I am a hockey mom, so it is a given that a rink is where you'll find me 90% of the time. I like to paint in any spare time I have. Furniture is my preference, but I'll do walls to. Wine is a new hobby of mine; I have been studying wine and working towards a beverage certification. After I receive the 1st certificate, I will begin to study wine in more detail.

IF YOU COULD GROW UP IN ANY DECADE, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE?
In the past - the 20's / 30's. Wow, the hair, clothes and how dating was. But I would also be open to grow up in about 40 years. The technology will be amazing and flying to the moon will be a vacation destination.
